For those who read Records, Records and More Records, time to disclose whether my bulk purchase of records turned up any gems.
The answer is an unequivocal no. What did I find:
- over 10% empty album covers or broken/damaged records;
- almost 10% Christmas music albums;
- almost 10% Country or Country Western albums;
- almost 10% Beautiful Music albums;
- a vast majority of 45s seemingly from jukeboxes, including many with their label, heavily used, damaged, scratched;
- a decent amount of polka, square dance, barbershop quartet, and organ music;
- some early 60s pop and mid-70s schmaltz;
- and absolutely nothing eye-popping.
While I did find maybe 10 albums worth keeping and some 45s worth selling, this album was the coolest more interesting find:
My wife, on the other hand, was not surprised: she found nothing of interest on either of our trips, and that indeed is a rarity. Our garbage collector is going to know the scale of the failure over the next few weeks …
