My name Scott Sosna is not common, largely because Sosna is not very common in the US: the only other person I know of is a financial advisor in New Jersey.
How about if you share your name with a celebrity or movie/television character? Multiple Homer Simpsons exist (I believe I read that one in fact worked at a power plant). When the Elizabeth Line name was announced, the real-life Lizzie Line’s twitter blew up. The man colloquially known as Son of Sam ruined the name David Berkowitz for at least a few generations.
Let’s talk athletes: Caitlin Clark has international name recognition for her college basketball exploits. It’s definitely going to be a problem if you need recognition in whatever field by your name. Like Caitlin Clarke (spelled with an ‘e’), a somatic coach who uses the domain caitlinclarke.com. Or Caity Clark from Wales whose domain caitlinclark.com redirects to her LinkedIn profile.
I wonder if Caitlin has asked Caity to sell the domain – likely expensive, no doubt – or whether she might try the cyber-squatting route….
