Foodie #6

Another goodie from Marc Heu Pâtisserie Paris. My wife and I went to place a Mother’s Day pick-up order and, surprisingly, some items had not sold out. Unable to ignore my sweet tooth, we picked up two delights to take home and enjoy.

Chocolate Brownie Croissant

The brownie croissant is almost identical to their daily chocolate croissant, with a brownie (almost chocolate-chocolate chip cookie) on top. The croissant itself was flaky and airy as you’d expect a Marc Hue croissant, with a slab of chocolate inside and the brownie/cookie on top.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Croissant

This croissant has a chocolate-chip cookie interior topped off with a cookie. The croissant itself was surprisingly dense, unusual for the normal Marc Hue croissants which are usually light and fluffy. For some reason, I expected the cookie to be Mrs. Fields soft when in fact it was more tough than crispy.

Conclusion

Though tasty, these croissants seem a little out of place with most of Marc’s pastries, something I’d expect at other bakeries or grocery stores, especially the chocolate chip cookie croissant which is heavier and more dense than anything I’ve had there previously. In my opinion these are the first misses of anything I’ve had at Marc Heu’s, based on the high bar set by the previous baked goods and pastries we’ve had there. No question delicious, but no where near as subtle or surprisingly as the other baked goods or pastries we’ve had. Next time I’ll just go for the chocolate croissant!
