My wife and I attended the Twins-Seattle game last Monday, which the Twins won 3-1.
Total game time: 2:09. More incredibly, the game was official in under 60 minutes. Wow.
Stating the obvious, but the pitch clock definitely keeps the game moving. As much as we love baseball, our limit is perhaps 2:30 unless the game is extraordinary: perhaps we’d make the seventh inning but it wasn’t guaranteed. We’ve attended other games with more scoring and still completed the game in under 2:20.
For baseball itself, the pitch clock doesn’t give fans a chance to disengage. I love watching football (soccer) because, other than tournaments which require a result, it’s a running clock and you know that you’re down in 2 hours.
Now, if baseball could reduce the commercial breaks!
