During Game 2 of the NLCS, the announcers remarked how the New York Mets’ team colors were chosen to represent the Brooklyn Dodgers (blue) and New York Giants (orange), teams whom abandoned New York City after the 1957 season.
Fun fact: the Mets won two World Series in their first 25 seasons in existence while the Dodgers won one World Series in their 57 seasons in Brooklyn.
Of course, today the teams would never have been able to get approval to leave …. or would they?!?
