Twice I’ve attempted to ride a paternoster lift (elevator); twice I’ve failed.
My first attempt was Stuttgart, Germany City Hall which has a working paternoster. Unfortunately, our arrival corresponded to a school visit and the elevator was turned off to avoid injury from children jumping on and off. I get it.

My wife and I were in Berlin recently and were definitely told that the Stasi Museum had a working paternoster that you could ride. Nope….the paternoster not only was off, it had a railing in front of it to prevent people from standing in it. This is as close as I got.
Foiled yet again, but I’ll keep trying!
