After entering the Alte Nationalgalerie and purchasing your tickets, you ascend the stairs to the first floor where the exhibits are. On the landing to the right is an exterior door which gives you a lovely view of the Berliner Dom with the bronze sculpture Equestrian statue of Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia by Alexander Calandrelli.
In this picture, I see Friedrich Wilhelm look over the citizens that he rules, while the cathedral – God – watches over the King. The framing of the picture could be better but was constrained by the position of the door and working around others coming up the stairs or trying to take the same picture. The lighting and colors turned out better than I expected, as it was a somewhat gray day and I was taking the picture looking out. Fortunately, the colors captured were nicely subtle.
