Joe DiMaggio demanded he be introduced as The Greatest Living Ballplayer at all public appearances, such as Yankee Old-Timers’ Day. Billy Crystal claims that DiMaggio punched him when Crystal did not introduce him as such. Wow, what an ego.
Rebecca Lobo seems to have similar illusions as grandeur. Ryan Ruocco and Rebecca Lobo are lead announcers for ESPN‘s coverage of women’s basketball, and Roucco introduces Lobo as our Hall of Famer multiple times per game. It’s inevitable, it’s boastful, it’s obnoxious, it’s unnecessary, it’s a joke.
The only conclusion I can draw is that it’s contractually obligated.
