I previously blogged about getting home in a ridiculous 40 minutes after returning from an international trip. I decided to officially time myself Sunday as I arrived from Amsterdam after speaking at Devoxx Belgium and see the results:
| Stage | Time | Total Time | Comments |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wheels Down | 00:00 | 00:00 | Finally Home! |
| Exit Plane | 10:14 | 10:14 | seat 36H, right side of plane |
| Complete Immigrations | 04:10 | 14:24 | Mostly spent time walking from plane; Global Entry rocks! |
| Exit Customs | 11:37 | 25:51 | Bag took awhile to tumble onto carousel. |
| Order/Meet Uber | 9:04 | 34:55 | Gridlock on MSP road leading to terminal, Uber caught in mess |
| Arrive Home | 17:53 | 52:48 | Exchange kiss with wife on front porch. |
Fast but not quite as fast, my previous trips definitely spoiled me. Bags on carousel as I make it through immigrations. Uber arriving within 2-3 minutes. Normal drive to house takes 15 minutes, but unexpected traffic levels for a Sunday afternoon.
Nevertheless, arriving home in under an hour is nothing to dismiss….but it definitely could have been better!
