How does any sensible musician conclude that s/he should cover a recent hit (#5 on the US charts) and add a meaningless chant Ooga-Chaka, Ooga-Ooga at the beginning?
As I only know Blue Swede‘s version, it appears their version is a cover of a cover: Jonathon King, an English songwriter, singer, and record producer, supposedly added the chant that he heard in another song. Go figure.
Jonathon King notwithstanding, it’s the Blue Swede version that is known and loved, everyone singing Ooga-Chaka, Ooga-Ooga at the top of their lungs …. as do I. Ridiculous, meaningless, no musical value, but utterly loved.
