During stoppage time of the Aston Villa/Brentford Premier League match, the home supporters were shown becoming increasingly frustrated as Villa could not break the Brentford 10-man defense. Aston Villa did indeed lose 0-1 despite overwhelming possession (71.7% v 28.3%), shots (27 v 6) and shots on goal (5 v 2). That’s football.
For whatever reason, a VIlla supporter was wearing an Athletics MLB cap. Does this man follow baseball (which Brits often dismiss as rounders)? Is he actually a long-suffering A’s fan whom, like myself, despises current ownership? Is he aware that the team is moving to Las Vegas? Is this a secret signal that the Athletics are not, in fact, heading to Sin City but instead or relocating to West Midlands or perhaps Birmingham itself?
Very likely nothing more than a bloke with a cap: I said “Athletics” while pointing at a more traditional green-and-gold cap worn by a man in Athens, Greece, who, despite speaking little English, communicated that he had no idea what the cap stood for. Bummer. Regardless, I’ll be dropping my long-held A’s fandom once the team relocates to Vegas; if Vegas (hopefully) falls through, I’ll be at Opening Day in Birmingham in a flash!
One can dream, can’t they?!?
