Meandering Thoughts #64

Love locks continue to be a trendy, touristy way to announce your love to the world: Cologne’s Hohenzollern Bridge is estimated to have over 100,000 locks. Aside from the Hohenzollern Bridge, the locks’ extra weight often raise structural concerns.

How about personal concerns? Are Jeanne and Filippo or Sandra and Mario still together? Do the locks reflect true love or current infatuation? Do people attempt to remove their locks once love has passed? Or should the locks remain as a true piece of history? The older the lock, the more likely the relationship has ended, though unlikely to discover for most.

What we need is a love-lock registry.
